Specimen Requirements
Submit one of the following

| White sterile container | Eswab |
Specimen Type: Specimen in appropriate transport medium. Specify sample source.
Container/Tube: Sterile screw-capped container, eSwab, M40 transystem Amies agar transport media (for non-NUH patients), media plates for eye scraping (collect from NUH Microbiology Laboratory).

Frozen samples
Foley catheter, urinary catheters, ETT tips are not recommended for culture.
Samples in Formalin, Universal Transport Medium (UTM), boric acid bottle, non-sterile container, dry swab. |

For specimens from deep sites or abscesses, it is strongly recommend to order MXB (Culture and Sensitivity, Aerobic and Anaerobic).
Do not use this test for respiratory specimens, CSF, urines, stool, blood. |
