Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type:

(a) Vitreous or eye tap: As much sample as possible. Collect sample in a sterile leak-proof container or in a syringe with needle removed.

(b) CSF: At least 0.5 mL of undiluted sample in a sterile and leak-proof screw-capped container without any additives.

(c) Swab for vesicles: Use Dacron-tipped swabs. Sample base of lesions vigorously and send dry in swab sheath.
