Specimen Requirements

Submit only one of the following

Eswab


Specimen Type: Varied sites. Specify the source of specimen.
Container/Tube: eSwab, M40 transystem Amies agar transport media (for non-NUH patients)
Volume: 1 swab

Collection Instructions: Please refer to eSwab Training Slides.

 

Please refer to Anaerobic Culture (for suitability of samples for anaerobic culture).

 

Collect specimen with sterile swab with transport medium.

- The representative specimen is at the advancing margin of the wound.

- Open the surface lesion and sample the advancing edge of the lesion firmly.

- Closed lesions should be aspirated with a syringe.
