Specimen Type: Endocervical, urethral, rectal,
eye swab
Container/Tube: eSwab, M40 transystem Amies agar
transport media (Copan)(for non-NUH patients)
Volume: Entire swab
Collection Instructions: Send to laboratory
IMMEDIATELY after collection.
Rectal swab: Pass the tip of a sterile swab approximately 2.5 cm beyond the anal sphincter. Rotate the swab & withdraw it. Place swab in transport medium.
