Volume: 2.0 mL
Minimum Volume: 1.0 mL (adult); 0.5 mL (paediatric)
Collection Instructions: Lumbar puncture, VP shunt, Ommaya Reservoir. Do not inoculate CSF samples into BacT/Alert bottles.

Conventional Culture

Monday through Sunday, TAT 2 - 3 days
Reference Interval
No bacterial growth after 2 days.
Critical Values: Clinician will be informed of positive CSF Gram smear or culture.
