Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type: Serum
Container/Tube: Gold Top (SSTII) / Red Top
Minimum volume: 0 min specimen – 3.0 mL serum, 15 min specimen – 1.5 mL serum
Collection Instructions: Collect 2 yellow tubes (2 x 5.0 mL) or 3 yellow child tubes (for 5 - 11 yrs old) or 12 yellow paeds tubes of blood prior to ICG injection. Collect another yellow tube of blood (1 x 5.0 mL) or 2 yellow child tubes (for 5 - 11 yrs old) or 6 yellow paeds tubes exactly 15 mins after injection. The remaining ICG in the bottle must be sent along with the specimens and labeled with patient's sticky label. After collection, wrap all blood specimens and drug bottle with aluminium foil before sending to the laboratory.
It is important to include the bottle of ICG dye together with the samples.
