Useful For
Used to determine fetomaternal haemorrhage by assessing amount of fetal haemoglobin present in mother’s blood and is usually performed on Rhesus negative mother to determine dose of Rh immune prophylaxis required. It may be helpful to estimate fetomaternal haemorrhage in Rhesus positive women who have had an intrauterine death or stillbirth if the cause of death is unknown or fetal haemorrhage is suspected.
