Test Code CMVD Cytomegalovirus (CMV) UL54 & UL97 Genotypic Resistance

Important Note

Genotypic resistance testing requires a minimum viral load to be successful.Minimum CMV viral load > 1,500 IU/ml or > 5,000 copies/ml.

NUH Laboratory strongly recommends ordering viral load (VL) testing (Test code 1033105 CMVP) together with genotypic resistance testing. If viral load is below the acceptable threshold, genotypic testing will not be performed, and the genotypic test will be cancelled with refund.

If genotypic resistance testing is ordered without a concurrent viral load, NUH recommends that a documented viral load within the preceding 14 days is provided with the test order.

In the absence of a concurrent viral load, testing will proceed at the requester’s risk. If genotypic testing fails due to insufficient viral load, the result will be reported as unsuccessful, no reflex viral load testing will be performed.
