Test Code CBS CSF Bilirubin Spectrophotometry (Xanthochromia)

Important Note

Specimen should reach the lab by 12pm as test is referred to TTSH Clinical Chemistry and analysis is performed on Monday - Friday, 9am - 3pm only.

Lab staff to note: Dispatch specimens to TTSH as soon as possible upon receipt.

Specimen Requirements

Both blood and CSF specimens are required. Send the specimens together with the completely filled TTSH Spectrophotometry Request Form.

Specimen Type: Serum
Container/Tube: Gold Top (SSTII)
Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL serum

Collection Instructions:
Protect specimen from light by wrapping the container/tube with aluminium foil.


Specimen Type: CSF
Container/Tube: Sterile Container or Red Top Tube
Minimum Volume: 1.5 mL

Collection Instructions:
Protect specimen from light by wrapping the container/tube by aluminium foil.
