For swab collection, a special collection media (red top) is needed. Please dispatch a porter to the Molecular Diagnosis Centre with the following instruction: "Collect 1× swab for Adenovirus PCR".

For swab, please specify the source. If not, the specimen type will be reported as "SWAB" in the final report.

Specimen Type: Whole Blood or Bone Marrow Aspirate
Container/Tube: Lavender Top (EDTA)
Specimen Volume: 3.0 mL (at least 1.0 mL for bone marrow aspirate)

Submit only one of the following:
Specimen Type: Nasopharyngeal Aspirate or Bronchoalveolar Lavage (BAL)
Container/Tube: Sterile Plain Container
Specimen Volume: Entire collection

Container/Tube: Universal transport media (dry swab in plain container is acceptable too)
